17# of 23 Learning 2.0 SandBox wiki.

Wiki is like a large, random conversation with all sorts of information that could be useless to one and an essential to another. With such a wide variety of information it is a very useful program.

#16 of 23 Week 7: Wikis discover some innovative ways

A wiki is a collaborative website and authoring tool that allows users to easily add, remove and edit content. Wikipedia, the online open-community encyclopedia, is the largest and perhaps the most well known of these knowledge sharing tools, but with benefits that wikis provide the use and popularity of these tools is exploding.

Some of the benefits that make the use of wikis so attractive are:

  • Anyone (registered or unregistered, if unrestricted) can add, edit or delete content.
  • Tracking tools within wikis allow you to easily keep up on what been changed and by whom.
  • Earlier versions of a page can be rolled back and viewed when needed.
  • Users do not need to know HTML in order to apply styles to text or add and edit content. In most cases simple syntax structure is used.

#15 of 23 Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries

After reading the library web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries I was shocked to come to the realization that as the world is becoming more high-tech, that libraries are going to have to keep up some how, or get left behind. Iceberg article was a real eye opener to the problems of the library.

I tried the del.icio.us website and found it complicating with its many things of its home page. It was hard to focus. I created an account and after several minutes i was able to get a basic understanding of how the website ran.

While i was browsing the del.icio.us site i came across an interesting video that i thought was funny.

I found the video funny and the how people in that time period was fascinated with being able to run different programs at the same time, now a days we that that for granted.

#8 of 23 Week 4: RSS & Newsreaders

This is my first time with RSS of (web feed) and so far i have been amazed with its capability that makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.
So far i have joined Bloglines and have subscribed to a few groups.

#7 of 23 blog post about anything technology related

The iphone has blown me aways this week with its talk about how it has an optional 8GB memory and its unique full touch screen method. As its arrival is approaches their has been a massive increase in the marketing used to attract costumers and to keep current costumers at the edge of their with its many capability's. Just this morning i saw a commercial about how the
iphone allows you to use youtube to view its videos directly from your phone this new feature along with its many other never before used capability's separates it from the previous phones.

I belive that the Iphone is the next generation of phones. Its large memory and touch screen design is the new revolutionary style that will eventually over power the current key- pad phones. The new Iphone is the most technological phone to date. Its features surpasses all other phones; its compatibility with both Macs and Windows only helps prove the statement that the iphone will be the beginning of a more advance and intergraded phones.

Although their is draw back with the phone , with its two-year policy and problems to getting used to the phone, but those are all problems that can be fixed over time and will not hinder the phones projected sales.

#6 of 23 Flickr mashups

Another exciting thing about Flickr is its ability to easily be attached with third party websites that create interesting new concepts to incorporate Flickr with their site.

A few Flickr mash up (from Ten Best Flickr Mashups)
  • Retrievr - Allows the user to us a mini paint box to create a basic design of an image, and the program will that that image and search for similar images of Flickr that have that design and color. The design is very efficient and could help find an image from Flickrs large collection.
  • Flappr - A flash program that allows the user to browse through Flickrs library. The program is similar to Flickr but allows the user to change pages and pictures without having to refresh the page. Flappr is more of a customized interface for Flickr, but it's well done and easy to use.
  • Captioner! - Like in comic books, Captioner allows the user to become their own writer and place a caption to the photo of their choice. The program is made to be fun and is able to take any photo from Flickr and other image sharing sites and put place it for editing on the Captioner program.
  • Colr Pickr - This tool has an interface that will look familiar to anyone who's spent a couple of afternoons designing user interfaces on the web. The Colr Pickr looks like a regular HTML color picker, but, of course, it wouldn't be listed here if that's all it was. Select a color from the color wheel and the Colr Pickr loads a selection of twelve photos from Flickr that best match your selected color.

#5 of 23 Week 3: Photos & Images Explore Flickr

Flickr is a photo sharing web site that allows the users to post up to a maximum of 2GB of photos a month. The site first create by Ludicorp in winter of 2004.
The company was token over by Yahoo and the site was transfered from its Canada base to the United State in one week. Along with its transfer Yahoo changed the programing to a new Gama style that changed the design along with the logo of the company to Flickr Gama, which was later changed to Flickr LOVES YOU.
Flickr's appeal is its accessibility to Bloggers and allows photos to be tagged with key words that could be searched for other pictures that relate to the tagged pictures.
